Sandy Springs ordinance change could boost City Springs’ food and beverage scene
A self-service wine bar’s plans to open at a Blue Stone Road location helped prompt city staff to propose an amendment to raise the alcohol to food sales ratio from the existing 50/50 ratio up to 65/35, Economic Development Director Chris Burnett told the city council at its meeting. The change only applies to beer and wine sales.

Sandy Springs UMC plans new campus after demolition
Sandy Springs UMC will demolish its campus at 86 Mount Vernon Hwy., which includes a large sanctuary, fellowship hall, classrooms, and business office. According to a news release, the new campus will be built on this site.
The church, which has offered ministry for more than 150 years, sold its nearby activity center on Aug. 1. The activity center property will be redeveloped as Hillcrest, a mixed-use residential and retail space.

A NEW FEATURE FROM ROUGH DRAFT
‘The Producers’ is a zany delight at City Springs
I remember when New York Times’ theatre critic Ben Brantley – reviewing the original production starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick – wrote a review called “A Scam That’ll Knock ‘Em Dead.” Mr. Brantley was overwhelmed, and his review was almost as funny as the show. I’m grateful to tell you I saw that production; it was unforgettable.
But I have good news for you: Comparisons are odious and I’m not making any. However, City Springs is presenting a show with a cast, orchestra, and crew that is well-nigh flawless. You’ll see a production that Mel Brooks himself would applaud—vigorously.
