Larch Creative Fund supports arts projects with $44,192 in grants

The Larch Creative Fund, in conjunction with the Spruill Center for the Arts, recently awarded a total of $44,192 in grants to fund arts-based projects within Georgia.
According to a release from Spruill, more than 100 applications were received, and five winners were selected by an awards committee. Grant awardees include:
• Paint Love, awarded $10,000 for the creation of a six-part mural centered around mental health issues in Cobb County’s Discovery Park;
• The Common Stage, awarded $4,845 to launch Show and Tell at the Commons – a program at 7 Stages Theater in Atlanta to encourage community and combat loneliness;
• Aysha Pennerman, awarded $20,000 for a public art installation in Midtown Atlanta featuring three-dimensional doves that will be hand-made by community members through a series of workshops;
• Scraplanta, awarded $4,347 to host a series of upcycling and sustainable costume design workshops that will culminate in a burlesque show, co-hosted by the Atlanta School of Burlesque;
• Out on Film, awarded $5,000 to host a conference discussing visual storytelling of LBGTQ+ history and to support several Georgia-based filmmakers in creating such projects.
“These projects were chosen by the committee for the value they will bring to the arts themselves and for the myriad ways in which they encourage community and social connection through the arts,” Spruill CEO Alan Mothner said.
The Larch Creative Fund is an endowment of the Spruill Center for the Arts established in 2023 to fund innovative projects that encourage creative and critical thinking through the arts, with a focus on having fun and encouraging community participation.
“The Larch Creative Fund Committee was overjoyed by the response, creativity, and breadth of thought of the applicants in the first year of this project,” said Larch Creative Fund committee member Carol Brull. “We congratulate all the award recipients and are looking forward to seeing their respective projects come to life.”
