Warrant sworn out against actor Tyrese Gibson after his dogs allegedly kill neighbor’s dog

Actor/singer Tyrese Gibson had an arrest warrant sworn out against him after one of his Tuxedo Court neighbors in Buckhead reported Gibson’s four Cane Corso dogs roamed freely in the neighborhood and had killed a neighbor’s dog.

Gibson is an American actor, singer, songwriter, author, model, and television producer who is best known for his role as Roman Pearce in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, but has also appeared in “Transformers,” “Death Race,” “Baby Boy” and “Legion.”

A neighbor called the Fulton County Police Department on Sept. 18, saying that the Cane Corso dogs had killed a five-year-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Henry, according to a news release. The neighbor let Henry into his front yard and found him dead five minutes later, according to Fulton County Police Capt. Nicole Dwyer, Animal Services commander.

According to the release, Gibson’s dogs were seen on camera scratching at a door across the street minutes before the attack. A woman in a house next door called 911 to report that she couldn’t get to her car because the four dogs were at her door. Fulton County animal control officers arrived and escorted her to her vehicle.

Gibson’s dogs were reported running loose on five occasions during the week and a half before Henry’s death. Dwyer said Gibson had received multiple warnings.

The release said that Gibson said on Sept. 22 he would surrender his dogs to Animal Services, but when officers arrived, he told them he wanted three or four days to decide what to do.

According to the release, Dwyer told Gibson if he didn’t surrender the dogs she would obtain a search warrant. When he refused, Dwyer got a search warrant for Gibson’s property and an arrest warrant against him on a charge of cruelty to animals. Officers executed the search warrant that evening, but Gibson was gone as well as the dogs, Dwyer said.

Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts said in a statement issued Monday that he was grateful for the work of the Fulton County Police Department.

“After months of being terrorized by these dogs on the loose, community members brought this situation to my attention earlier this month, and I personally visited the neighborhood where this occurred,” Pitts said.
