Decked Out: See the top home holiday light displays in metro Atlanta

Lights of Joy is known as the “largest residential Christmas light display in Georgia,” according to its website. (Photo courtesy of Lights of Joy.)

Years after Chevy Chase’s Clark Griswold bedazzled his fictional home and exasperated his fictional neighbors, there still seems to be a joy and enchantment sparked by homegrown holiday light displays.

Unlike the home in “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” metro Atlanta’s neighborhood holiday displays come with all the lights and none of the drama. For those looking to spot the most dazzling and elaborate lights, inflatables, and epic decking of driveways, there are an array of homeowners who have pulled out all the stops this season.

We here at Rough Draft Atlanta have built a helpful map and guide of where to see holiday lights at residential homes, and, most of the time, for free. We’ll add additional homes throughout the season.

Take a look at five homes we’ve plucked from the map that might be worth the drive in every corner of metro Atlanta.

Mary Graves and her family have opened their home and holiday spectacle to the public for more than 40 years.
“I can’t even give an estimation of how many lights and decorations we have now,” Graves recently told The Champion in 2022. “We used to try and keep count, but our collection grows each year.”
Graves says it takes her three months to prepare and install the many lights and decorations that have made her home a must-see stop for local families.
The lights stay on until approximately 11 p.m. each night. Check this link for schedule details.

A Whole LOT of Christmas

A dozen holiday-themed inflatables have been installed in the yard of the historic farmhouse for nightly viewing. For more about the Torres family and their dino-antics, see our story here.
