Atlanta Police Foundation offers $10,000 signing bonus for transferring officers
The Atlanta Police Foundation announced a $10,000 signing bonus for certified officers who join the Atlanta Police Department (APD) through lateral transfer.
APF says that the bonus is intended to attract seasoned police officers who can immediately contribute to public safety efforts in Atlanta, especially as the city prepares for major upcoming events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The incentive is part of APF’s ongoing “Build the Force” initiative, which aims to “increase recruitment, improve officer retention and maintain Atlanta’s momentum in reducing crime,” according to a release.
“We are investing in experience,” said Dave Wilkinson, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Police Foundation. “Lateral officers bring tested skills and real-time readiness. This bonus is our way of saying that if you’re ready to serve Atlanta, we’re ready to support you.”
Eligible applicants must be certified officers who meet APD’s transfer requirements and are required to complete an expedited hiring process.
In addition to the signing bonus, officers joining through the program will benefit from a range of support services offered under the “Build the Force” initiative, including housing assistance, mental wellness programs, training opportunities, scholarships, life insurance and childcare incentives.
“We’re committed to giving the Atlanta Police Department the resources it needs to hire and retain the best officers and to keep our communities safe,” said Wilkinson.
