Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta named ‘Large Agency of the Year’

Youth support nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) has been named the “2024 Large Agency of the Year” by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA).
The national award is given to “one large affiliate agency each year that demonstrates exceptional performance, growth, innovation and commitment to youth outcomes,” according to a release.
The honor was presented by BBBSA president and chief executive officer Artis Stevens at the organization’s national conference in Philadelphia.
“This dynamic, results-driven agency has more than doubled its youth served in recent years and is redefining what sustainable, community-led impact looks like,” said Stevens during the award presentation.
Established 65 years ago, BBBSMA aims to transform the lives of local children by providing mentorship services across 11 metro Atlanta counties.
In 2024, the nonprofit served over 2,600 youth in Atlanta, making it the fastest-growing large agency in the BBBSA network, according to a release.
BBBSMA attributes that rise to its “Level Up” program, an “embedded-in-schools group mentoring initiative” that helps more than 1,400 middle school students throughout metro Atlanta.
Other achievements by the nonprofit last year include raising over $8 million in community support funding, as well as setting up a $5 million endowment.
“This award is a reflection of our team, our Bigs, our partners, and most importantly, the incredible youth we serve,” said Kwame Johnson, president and chief executive officer of BBBSMA. “We’re honored to be recognized on the national stage — and we’re just getting started.”
