Caring For Others hosting annual Thanksgiving distribution event Nov. 22

Caring For Others, an Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to eradicating poverty, will host its 25th annual Comfort & Care Harvest Distribution on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Taking place at the nonprofit’s headquarters at 3537 Browns Mill Road, the yearly event provides Thanksgiving meals and household essentials to local families that are experiencing financial hardship.

This year, volunteers will be distributing thousands of pounds of poultry, fresh produce, blankets, towels and other goods to roughly 700 Atlanta families, said Caring For Others.

“Comfort & Care is not just a distribution of goods, it offers local families support and hope during a challenging and unpredictable economic landscape,” said Eslene Richmond-Shockley, founder and chief executive officer of Caring For Others. “By offering food and clothing we aim to uplift and give back to our community by providing a holiday celebration to those unable to afford it.”

The Harvest Distribution is one of several large-scale community events organized by Caring For Others, which was recently recognized by the White House’s “National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.”

Founded to help individuals and families break the cycle of poverty, Caring For Others currently operates nine different initiatives, including disaster relief convoys and international microeconomic centers, to name a few.

The nonprofit has pledged to deliver more than nine million pounds of fresh and nutritious food to families in need each year through 2030.

Atlantans can volunteer or donate to the Comfort & Care Harvest Distribution event through the Caring For Others website.
