Is the Tucker Meat Market permanently closed?

Social media was abuzz this week with speculation after passers-by noticed that the establishment seemed to be out of business. Others noted that they observed people moving equipment out of the building, located at 2187 Brockett Road.

A Rough Draft reporter drove by the site on June 24 and observed the front windows covered from the inside with brown paper, and a sign that said simply, “Kitchen closed today.” Through the windows, a blue tarp could be seen covering several pieces of equipment.

While the business phone is still in operation, calls are diverted to a voice mailbox that indicates that it is full, and messages cannot be left. Rough Draft also reached out to the meat market’s listed email address and is awaiting a response.

The Tucker Meat Market Facebook page is also still operational and last week reposted an entry regarding the robbery that occurred at Matthews Cafeteria.

The market offered quality butcher meat along with a limited lunch menu. One of the specialty items on that food menu, the Mammoth Burger, has been praised by many customers on different restaurant review platforms as one of the “best burgers” in Georgia.

Tucker Meat Market owner Andrea Woolf placed third in 2023 in the World Burger competition at the World Food Championship in Indianapolis, IN.

Woolf’s Korean burger, served on a green onion bun, accompanied by homemade kimchi and aioli, and beef containing a plethora of ingredients including a pureed Asian pear, lost by two points to Team Burger France and Crissy Pub Style at the competition in Dallas.

In the 2024 competition, Woolf’s entry failed to make it to the judges’ table in time and was disqualified.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is known.
