New retail, dining options coming to Underground Atlanta

Atlanta-based real estate firm Lalani Ventures has announced a wave of new retail and dining additions coming to Underground Atlanta’s Upper Alabama Street.
Coming to the shopping district is Dolo’s Pizza, a former food cart that transitioned into a permanent space in Lower Alabama.
After gaining popularity at its original location, the pizzeria is set to expand its venture as a way to serve more customers, according to a release.
Another eatery that will be joining Dolo’s at Upper Alabama Street is Underground Diner.
Designed to serve patrons daytime and nighttime, the diner will set up shop at the corner space that was previously occupied by Dancin’ Crepe’s.
”We’re thrilled to bring fresh energy and flavor to Underground Atlanta,” said Latisha Johnson, consultant for Underground Diner. “This is more than a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Atlanta’s rich culinary scene and community spirit. Whether you’re grabbing coffee and grits in the morning or winding down with a plate of comfort food at night, we want guests to feel right at home.”
In addition to restaurants, Upper Alabama Street will also see the opening of HOMMEWRK, an apparel boutique started by Atlanta rapper Trinidad James.
Located in the retail space where James once worked as a teenager, HOMMEWRK is an apparel and design brand that emphasizes “community, culture and progression of artists, musicians and sneakerheads,” said a release.
“The positive momentum on Upper Alabama Street is undeniable, and these new additions are helping to bring vibrant, all-day energy back to Underground,” said Shaneel Lalani, chief executive officer of Lalani Ventures. “By adding more daytime dining and retail options, we’re creating a dynamic environment that invites people to come early and stay late.”
Lalani Ventures added that a new six-stall food hall was in the works for Upper Alabama, with the expectation that it will open ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, with which Atlanta was named as one of the host cities for.
“As the city of Atlanta continues to host a number of major events, these new businesses play a critical role to furthering the growth of Downtown at an exciting time,” said Courtney English, chief policy officer and senior advisor to the mayor. “Underground Atlanta is returning to its heyday as a vibrant arts and entertainment district, and we are thrilled to see the progress as we work across public and private sectors to strengthen the Downtown experience.”
