The City of Tucker has partnered with Comcast Smart Solutions to deploy smart lighting technology across its public trail system, creating a safer and more connected environment for residents and visitors.

According to a release from Comcast, the comprehensive upgrade transforms existing light fixtures along the trail leading to Tucker Town Green into multifunctional smart hubs.

Each fixture now combines high-efficiency LED lighting with advanced video analytics, CCTV monitoring, and public WiFi access.

The smart lighting solution, featuring technology from Juganu, delivers real-time monitoring capabilities that provide city officials with valuable insights into foot traffic patterns and trail usage, according to the release. This data-driven approach enables faster response times to potential safety concerns while helping inform future infrastructure improvements.

“Integrating smart technology into our public spaces and trails is a key step forward,” Micah Seibel, assistant to the city manager, said. “It allows us to deliver reliable connectivity to our community and better monitor usage in a way that’s scalable, efficient, and simple to manage.”

By leveraging existing lighting infrastructure, Tucker minimized project costs while maximizing technological benefits. The retrofit approach simplified installation and reduced community disruption, demonstrating how municipalities can efficiently modernize public spaces without extensive reconstruction.

“We’re proud to partner with the City of Tucker to help create a more connected and responsive environment for city residents and employees,” Vice President and General Manager of Comcast Smart Solutions Mike Slovin said.
